Stop The Aging Process

I’m on day four now with my glutathione experiment.  As I mentioned last week, I was doing a trade show in a local community and met a large number of like-minded health enthusiasts.  Even though I trained in medical research and phyto-nutrition, I will be the first to admit that it is such a large field that I don’t really think one can every be a guru in this stuff.

With an open source research platform, the industry standard, there is just too much information to cover for any single entity.  I switched from PC to a Macbook about 10 months ago in order to increase my efficiency in conducting, tabulating and analyzing research data.  Even with the fantastic advantage that Mac gives me over anything in the PC world, I simply cannot keep up with everything.  In that respect, I try to concentrate on the important things to me and my family.  At this stage of my life, it includes things that lead me to staying disease free and keeping energetic and healthy.

Glutathione – The Next 200 Pound Gorilla On Campus

For many months I have been writing about the wonders of alkalinity and the powerful health benefits we experience from consuming high alkaline foods.   I was recently giving a demonstration at a local trade fair when I met a gentleman whom I found very interesting.

This fellow was a retired petro-chemical engineer.  He was one of the very few people that I meet that really understands the science behind the state of dysbiosis that is happening in our bodies as we age.

He was so refreshing to speak with that we decided to meet later for coffee.  I always try to keep an open mind and I also have learned, in my 56 years on this planet, that everything happens for a reason – and that reason is usually for our own benefit… whether we immediately recognize that fact or not.

My new friend was very knowledgeable about many bodily functions and processes.  But what most interested me was his understanding of the situation regarding glutathione and it function in our bodies.

I remember bookmarking a link I found 6 months ago that talked about the use and function of glutathione.  The molecule is a substance that our  bodies manufactures by itself.  It is not something that we can eat or inject with any reasonable degree of efficacy.  The digestive process destroys glutathione very early in the game, so virtually none of it gets to do any work on us.

What peaked my curiosity is the fact that we all have glutathione already, but our systems begin to destroy it as we get older.  the scientists call this “glutathione reduction” – and apparently it’s a bad situation and possibly the cause of our premature aging.  The real question for me is this.  Do we age because we destroy our glutathione?  Or do we destroy our glutathione because we age?

The chemical formula for glutathione is C10-H17-N3-O6-S.  It has six oxygen molecules and 4 of them are double bonded!  Double bonds are difficult to destroy, yet our bodies are finding a way.  The natural glutathione that does its wonderful work while we are young is the most potent antioxidant known to man.  Apparently it only works for the first part of our lives, then sadly wanes.  I suspect this situation is about to change!

Glutathione is extremely soluble in water and it is classed as a nutraceutical.  As a micronutrient it appears that corporate medicine has been trying to patent an ingestible form of it for some time.  So far there has been little success.

When I searched the US National Library of Medicine, I was surprised to find nearly 91,000 articles on the subject.  Clearly there is a lot of interest in this molecule.  It is widely described as the “mother of all antioxidants”.  Science says that, unlike other antioxidants, glutathione has the ability to recycle itself.  This may be one of the reasons that young people have such a youthful advantage.  Their glutathione levels are working well.  But somewhere along the line something happens that switches off the glutathione tolerance mechanism.  We begin to destroy the stuff and then we begin to age.   And we do not age in a straight line, as many of you will attest!  The age process seems get faster and faster.  How many times have we said that about time?  Like lines on the road… faster and faster.

My preliminary research has led me to a company that claims to have a complementary complex of molecules that, when taken orally, prohibit the body from destroying glutathione.  I am at the beginning stages of testing the efficacy of this product on both myself and two of my associates.  I will most definitely be writing about our findings in due course.  Whether the product is a success or a failure, you will find out here first.

If it is successful, my guess you are going to see new “gold rush” in the latter part of 2010 – and it is going to all about glutathione.

Diet Dawg’s Top Ten Diet Tricks

I keep hearing it over and over again. Summer is coming and everyone wants to parade around with those six-pack abs. There are any number of diets that you can download, buy, or borrow…but when it comes right down to it, you and I both know that you are going to gravitate back to your old habits in about three days.

Has anyone ever wondered why it is that most of us last just 3 days? I have some good news for you. It is NOT your fault. The deck is stacked against you. Foods today are not what they appear to be. Most of our foods have lost a substantial part of their nutritional impact. At the same time, we humans have lost some of our ability to assimilate the nutrition that we do eat. The process of getting nutrition into your body is called “nutrient assimilation” and that process is affected by the food’s bio-availability.

Think of it like an oil filter in a car. The finer the filter, the fewer the number of dirt particles that find their way into your engine. Some nutrients are water soluble and some are fat soluble. That means that to get the nutrient into your body, you need either water or oil. But what if that oil is saturated with hydrogen ions? And what if the water is clustered at 12 molecules per cluster instead of 5 or 6 molecules? In these cases, everything you eat is going to be less bio-available for your body. In other words, your body is not going to derive the same benefit as it would otherwise get if there was not problem with either the water or the oil.

So no matter what diet you start, you are destined to fail if you don’t know the tricks. Think of me as the “diet dog”. I know where all of the bones are buried, and I am going to dig a few up for you right now. Here are “Diet Dawg’s” super tricks.

1. Never miss breakfast – and eat the same thing every day. Eat quick oats with crushed walnuts, blueberries or strawberries, a bit of cream and a teaspoon of honey. This will setup your metabolic engine for the day.

2. Do away with all oils except safflower oil. It is a medium chain triglyceride that fools your body into thinking that it is a carbohydrate. Use it on salads and even in your soups or oats if you want. Make sure you get three tablespoons per day.

3. Avoid corn syrup as though it was poison. Corn syrup is not only genetically modified, but also it makes your glucose metabolism fail. This can lead to all kinds of health issues that we can talk about another time.

Disease Control

This weekend I had the opportunity to do some videoing. My business partner and I wanted to text various water products to see that their relative pH values would be. In light of the war that appears to be going on for control of your purchasing power, I really want to find the answers.

On one side of the equation we have big companies and multinational corporations that produce really great tasting beverages. Who doesn’t enjoy a nice cold beer or a favorite soda on a hot day? These products taste so good… how could anybody say they are not good for us? On the other side of the equation we have health scientists who are now beginning to identify some of the finer points to disease prevention. One of those points is that the role of alkalinity is more important than we previously realized.

All anyone has to do is search and they will find a ton of research that supports alkalinity. It’s common knowledge now that cancer won’t grow in alkaline environments. Cancer requires an acidic environment. When scientists started looking at disease prevention rather than disease curing, it became clear that there were some environmental factors that contributed significantly to growth of diseases.

New Studies Support Alkalinity

Following the bouncing ball, I note that bicarbonate has been implicated in bone health in older subjects on acid-producing diets in short-term studies. The objective of these studies was to determine the effects of potassium bicarbonate on measurable changes in bone resorption and calcium excretion. The studies covered a 3-month period and included older men and women.

The studies were double-blind, controlled trials and included about 170 men and women aged 50 and older. Procedures were randomized to receive either a placebo or an amount of potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, or potassium chloride. All subjects received small doses of calcium and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) daily.

Twenty four hour urinary measurements were taken and tested for N-telopeptide and calcium. All participants were treated exactly the same way each and every day for the full three months.

What resulted was that bicarbonate affected the study outcomes, whereas potassium did not. Subjects taking bicarbonate had significant reductions in urinary N-telopeptide and calcium excretion, when compared with subjects not taking bicarbonate. Potassium supplementation did not significantly affect N-telopeptide or calcium excretion.

What we can conclude from this is that bicarbonate, but not potassium, has a favorable effect on bone resorption and calcium excretion. Once again, this suggests that increasing the alkaline content of human diets may mitigate bone loss in healthy older adults.

Studies like this are being released almost weekly. I have never, in my 56 years, witnessed a movement as powerful as this one. There is no question in my mind that alkalinity plays a monster role in disease prevention. The difficult part is getting the word out there. Those with the big bucks control everything. And they only keep those big bucks if you keep getting sick. So they condition you to consume the things they sell that will eventually make you sick. I’m the first guy to enjoy my beer and pizza, but there is a trick to making that stuff not harm you in the long run.

In order to be immune from the effects of that kind of high acid intake you must always be detoxing on high alkaline water. In other words, the foods we really love must only be short diversions from our normal diet. In the end, I guess its a big trade off. Each to his or her own values. The easiest thing we an do, however, is to ‘tank up’ regularly. The human body needs about 3 liters a day of water. You lose almost that much with just breathing and normal bodily functions. I would encourage everyone to find some ph drops and at least drink the water daily. You will minimize the damage done by the stuff we just love to eat!

I personally want to see how long this body will run!

Green Tea May Increase Fat Loss

From Dr. Mercola
April 29, 2010

Green tea could raise your energy expenditure, and possibly even help battle obesity, according to a new study.

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a compound found in green tea, was shown to increase fat oxidation by 33 percent.

This result comes from one of many studies that have looked at green tea’s potential in weight loss. EGCG has been shown to be a key component in many of these studies.

There are a number of ways the EGCG could help aid weight loss:

* It could increase metabolism and fat oxidation
* It could inhibit fat cell development
* It could increase fat excretion

Why Cancer Can’t Be “Cured”

A friend of mine recently sent me an email with the title: “Johns Hopkins Finally Admits Alternative Therapies…”
As I read the text I notice the formatting was horrible and the language was something you might expect to find form a grade 5 class essay. I became curious since I’ve spent my life researching alternative medicine and holistic healing. I don’t like articles like that to be in circulation because they detract for the reality of the situation.

That reality here is that there is a war going on. It’s not the traditional war that has obvious casualties. It is a war for credibility. One side has billions of dollars and controls world governments and all of the regulatory agencies, as well as law enforcement. The other side, up until the past few years, has nothing more than a fundamental belief – grounded by tiny little bits of empirical evidence – that there is something foul in economy of traditional medicine. Until the Internet came along, this side was just a widespread collection of individuals who were all revved up with no place to go! Today, we are “an army of Davids“.

I was motivated enough to go to the Johns Hopkins Medical Center Website. I found their cancer center and all other departments. I did a full search of their site and found ZERO articles on alternative therapy. In fact, I found that they are funded by big pharma to run clinical trials for cancer drugs. Johns Hopkins is paid to run clinical trials. (What Are Cancer Clinical Trials)

If Johns Hopkins were to suggest that alternative cancer treatments were available, then big pharma would cut them off instantly. They would lose millions of dollars in advertising and funding as a result. Doctors and nurses and lab technicians would lose there jobs. There is an entire economy dependent upon the general public believing there is hope to cure cancer. Big pharma spends billions of dollars every year to keep it this way.

In reality, cancer isn’t something that can be cured. It is like saying, lets cure the weather! If conditions are such that there is enough moisture in the air – then it’s going to rain! Rain is a condition brought about by the evaporation of water which then condenses in the atmosphere. You can’t cure rain. So the idea that we can cure cancer is just plain stupidity. On the other hand, if you could control heating from the sun, then you could “prevent” rain.

In the same way, you can prevent conditions that cause your cells to precipitously behave is a way that allopaths describe as “cancer.” Once you open your minds to the world of “possibilities”, you will be amazed at we can do!

Is Your Doctor Any Good?

Your fish is sick. What will you do?

  • Treat the fish, or
  • Change the water

Ask your doctor this question. Your quality of life depends upon his/her answer.  If he chooses to treat the fish, then he works for big pharma whether he will admit it or not.  He chooses the path of least resistance over the path of efficacy.  And all the baby fish that come along will grow up to be dependent upon the medication.

Doctors of the future will prescribe no medication.  They will understand disease and the mechanisms of illness and they will put you on the path to wellness.  Specialized ‘mechanics’ will put your broken bones back together or stitch  up tears in your skin or even replace defective parts – but doctors will not be able to  ignore ‘the condition of the water’.

Nearly all men die from their medications – NOT their diseases.
